Portarlington Winter Warmers

The winds have begun to howl and the weather continues to cool – winter has well and truly arrived in Victoria! And there’s no better place to spend it than Portarlington.

Here’s what you can enjoy this wintertime:

A comforting drop of red

Most vinophiles will agree that there’s nothing better than a glass of red on a chilly winter’s day. Luckily, Portarlington is positioned close to a range of award-winning wineries, where you can kick back and sip your favourite vino. There are a range of cosy, fire-side couches calling your name at the Curlewis Winery’s cellar door, Appellation.

Whisky warmers at the Whiskery

If you’re more of a whisky connoisseur, then stop in at The Whiskery at the Bellarine Distillery. Pull up a chair beside the crackling fire and enjoy a delicious dram. A selection of gins are also available.

Melt in your mouth mussels

What better way to warm the cockles of your heart than with the delicious variety of seafood dishes at Little Mussel Café? We think their coconut curry mussels are a must-have this winter.

Frosty farmer’s market mornings

There’s no better place to find fresh, local seasonal produce than your nearby farmer’s market. Portarlington is close to two bustling Bellarine markets:

North Bellarine Farmers Market

Occurring on the second Saturday of each month at Bellarine Estate, you’ll find a mix of fresh local, regional and artisanal produce at the North Bellarine Farmers Market.

Bellarine Farmers Market

On the third Saturday of every month the Bellarine Farmers Market takes place at Ocean Grove Park. The market boasts a plethora of stalls from growers, makers and creators as well as live music and entertainment for the kids.

The National Celtic Folk Festival

The Portarlington Community is gearing up for the National Celtic Folk Festival, taking place on 10 – 13 June (Queen's Birthday long weekend). For three jam-packed days and lively nights, attendees will enjoy Celtic music, dance, art, poetry, cuisine and even Gaelic languages. As well as ticketed tents and performances, there’s also a free winter’s market and entertainment available for the whole family. So, throw on your winter coat, grab a mulled wine and enjoy the festivities.

The Panorama Portarlington team wishes you a warming and whimsical winter!
